Walking is a series of mixed-media pieces exploring the concepts of personal mythology and psychogeography stemming from my experiences walking in St. John’s during the pandemic. This work was created during Eastern Edge Gallery’s FARR Program residency.
In March, as things shut down, I started walking every day to get out of the house for exercise and fresh air. I thought I was familiar with my neighbourhood, but as the weeks went by I became much more aware of my surroundings. I simultaneously took in the minutiae of the route while constructing a larger understanding and experience of the environment around me.
